Giving Tuesday
Giving Tuesday, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, began as a simple idea in 2012, a day that encourages people to do good. The initiative was the brainchild of Henry Timms at the 92nd Street Y in New York. Of course, it follows the days that encourage shopping: Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, and offers an alternative to purchasing, or a way to ‘wrap up’ all that shopping with some good works!
Through These Doors is one of many organizations doing great work in your local community. We encourage you to donate money and time to the ones that speak to your convictions and values. Ones that make a difference in the lives of people, other animals, and the planet we live on. Ones that make the world a better place.
Through These Doors helps individual people as they seek safety and liberation, and we seek to create change, to alter the systems within which abuse happens in the first place.
As you receive multiple requests from worthy nonprofits this week, consider what a monthly contribution to Through These Doors will do:
• $10 per month will feed one person in shelter for 42 days
• $15 per month will pay the phone bill for our helpline for 4-1/2 months
• $20 per month will pay the salary for one trained advocate to help 14 individuals seeking a protection from abuse order
A recurring donation is a great way to budget your giving, and allows us to maintain a stable budget as well, especially for those expenses that happen all year long!
If you would like to donate, visit the DONATE page on this website. Thank-you for considering a gift to TTD and for all of the change you make in the world.
