TTD Announces Generous Gift
Through These Doors is pleased to announce a generous gift from the New England Patriot’s Foundation of $100,000 to support TTD’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Through These Doors is the only Maine nonprofit to receive this contribution.
Since the onset of the pandemic in mid-March, Through These Doors has provided emergency shelter relief in record numbers to people fleeing abuse in their homes. This gift is essential to that effort. Other funders such as MaineHousing, United Ways, local and regional foundations, and individual contributors have also made important donations.
The expenses related to TTD’s work helping families stay safe only have increased over time. This contribution from the New England Patriots will be used to help address that need. This gift establishes an emergency fund to provide COVID-19 related support to domestic abuse victims and their children for critical expenses.
The New England Patriots stated a desire to help the most vulnerable populations and to support the vision of strongly-led organizations such as Through These Doors. TTD’s life-saving models impressed the New England Patriots and aligned with their commitment to supporting New England grassroots nonprofit activism.
As suggested by the New England Patriots, Through These Doors will be engaging in a two-to-one matching campaign for their donation. Our individual, group, and corporate donors are invited to join us to take advantage of this unique opportunity to strengthen core services and support families seeking safety and freedom.
More information on the campaign will follow, although immediate gifts are welcome and will be included as we strive to reach the campaign goal of $50,000. The mission of Through These Doors, in collaboration with local partners and all affected by abuse, is to create innovative responses and mobilize the community to promote safety and challenge systems of oppression and violence.
